Mission365 launches at City Hall on 9/11
   Mayor Michael Nutter, Global Citizen, the Mayor's Office of Civic Engagement and Volunteer Service, along with organizations serving veterans and community leaders will convene on Tuesday, September 11th at 2pm in the Mayor's Reception Room at City Hall in Philadelphia for the launch of Global Citizen’sMission365: Connecting Military & Civilian Service on the Homefront.
   The event, marking the September 11th National Day of Service and Remembrance, will feature the presentation of Global Citizen’s first Mission365 Active Citizenship Award by Mayor Nutter. The award will be presented to former Tuskegee Airman, Major John L. Harrison, Jr. (Air Force, retired). He will be recognized for his active citizenship in the military, for heading the Peace Corps in Swaziland, and for serving as regional director of key national service programs, including ACTION, Volunteers in Service to America (VISTA) and the Foster Grandparents program.
   Prior to the ceremony, local veterans’ organizations will host tables with information about their work and opportunities to support their efforts through volunteer service.
