HOUSE OF UMOJA, INC. ANNOUNCES 9/10/2012 SCHEDULE FOR 2012 NATIONAL MILLION FATHER MARCH

PHILADELPHIA, PA (USA) – 9 September 2012 – On Monday, 10 September 2012 under the leadership of the House of Umoja, Inc., the City of Philadelphia will again participate in the National Million Fathers March. Mr. David Fattah, Coordinator for the City of Philadelphia for the 2012 National Million Father March has announced the House of Umoja, Inc’s schedule for the National Million Fathers March on Monday, 10 September 2012.

“We are leading by example and asking Fathers to gather at the House of Umoja, Inc.’s office at 5625 West Master Street in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania at 7:00 A.M. The Honorable Michael Nutter, Mayor of the City of Philadelphia, is scheduled to arrive at our office at 8:00 A.M. where he will speak briefly with the Fathers. We will then march to the Universal Bluford Charter School which is located at 5720 Media Street in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The Honorable Curtis Jones, Jr., Democratic Councilman for the City of Philadelphia’s Fourth District; The Honorable Chaka Fattah, United States Congressman for Pennsylvania’s Second Congressional District; Ms. Angela Y. Ryans, Acting Principal of the Universal Bluford Charter School; and School District of Philadelphia’s new Superintendent William R. Hite, Jr., Ed.D. are also scheduled to participate in the 2012 National Million Father March on Monday, 10 September 2012. We are asking Fathers in every neighborhood throughout the City of Philadelphia to take their child to school on Monday, 10 September 2012 and to maintain a dominant presence in their child’s school throughout the 2012-2013 academic year,” remarked Mr. David Fattah who has been the Coordinator of the 2012 National Million Father March in the City of Philadelphia since 2007. 

The House of Umoja, Inc. has released the following schedule for Monday, 10 September 2012 in connection with its participation in the National Million Father March:

7:00 A.M. Fathers will assemble at the House of Umoja, Inc.’s office at 5625 West Master Street in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

8:00 A.M. The Honorable Mayor Michael Nutter will speak briefly with Fathers assembled at the House of Umoja, Inc.

8:00 A.M. Immediately after the delivery of a brief address by The Honorable Mayor Michael Nutter, Fathers assembled at the House of Umoja, Inc. along with Mr. David Fattah, Coordinator of the 2012 National Million Father March in the City of Philadelphia will march to the Universal Bluford Charter School located at 5720 Media Street in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

8:15 A.M.- 8:30 A.M. Participants in the 2012 National Million March arriving at the 8:30 A.M. Universal Bluford Charter School will be inspired by speeches delivered by The Honorable Curtis Jones, Jr., Democratic Councilman for the City’s Fourth District; The Honorable Chaka Fattah, United States Congressman for Pennsylvania’s Second Congressional District, William R. Hite, Jr., Ed.D., the new Superintendent for the School District of Philadelphia, and Ms. Angela Y. Ryans, Acting Principal of the Universal Bluford Charter School.

8:30 A.M. Fathers will leave the Universal Bluford School.
