Another Day, Because I Pray!

If today is the first day of the rest of your life, what are you waiting for? All too often folks wait until that time comes where they get stuck with the ball in their hand saying, "I wish I would have...."I know I should have"...." If I could do it differently".....and you know the rest. What many folks seem to grasp about life, is that it is very short, it is actually today! I remember hearing Minister Farrakhan say " I die daily." It took me a minute to grasp that statement, even when he… Continue

International House

Free the River Park explores a neighborhood's ultimately victorious efforts to create and preserve access to the new Schuykill River Park despite the adamant objections of the CSX Railroad.

The short documentary (15 min) chronicles the protracted campaign by residents and elected officials to win over CSX. Featuring interviews with park advocates and elected officials,… Continue

Who is this "they" people are talking about?

How many times have you been driving down the highway behind someone in the passing lane who is driving well under the speed limit and when you attempt to go around them they speed up? How many times have you attempted to enter into traffic from a parking lot and everybody seems to speed up and not let you in, then when you aggressively pull out they cuss you out? How many times have you been in line at the supermarket waiting for the person in front of you to move up so that you can put your… Continue

The True Pleasure of Life

I was taking a shower this morning, which is where I do some of my best thinking, and I was thinking about my life; not just this life, but the afterlife. My wife would be the first to tell you that I can stay in the shower for an hour. The hot water just runs over my body, creating such an inebriated state, that I never want to come out of it. Really! For a minute just think about a feeling you get from something that you wish could go on forever. What if you could experience this all the… Continue

"Stolen Gun Law" Documentary

On first blush this law seems, to paraphrase one of the speakers in the documentary: to be a commonsense law. But on even the slightest evaluation should be found by all to be flawed.

My aversion to this bill is the 3 day criterion. Here's how I look at it: Say you live in Philly in an apartment in the Center City section of Philly. You own a car which you keep in a parking garage. You work in Philly, say on Market Street only blocks away from where you live. Wanting to be a good… Continue

Domestic Violence: A Public Tragedy

There seems to be much confusion about the term "Domestic Violence", so allow me to give clarity. This terms refers to any act of an individual upon another/others that creates instability, fear, hostility, and harm of a mental, spiritual and physical nature in the home. This means that if you are being yelled at, called outside of your name and/ or degraded in any capacity you are being abused. If you feel trapped in any relationship and are afraid to leave it because you fear reprisal from… Continue
