Richard Paulk Angelina Jolie, Brad Pitt are suing tabloid over breakup story

Game on! Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie are taking legal action against the British tabloid News of the World for its story last month that alleged the couple were working out details of a split. "The News of the World has failed to meet our clients' reasonable demands for a retraction of and apology for these false and intrusive allegations which have now been widely republished by mainstream news outlets," a lawyer working for the couple in London said in a statement. "We have advised them to b… Continue

Kurt Liberman More things I have learned

Growing old does have one benefit ... experience. So, I am continuing here to share my vast pool of knowledge. Of course my girlfriend can't resist telling me I need to clean the pool, but heres the list anyway.

1. If you do anything that gets your hands wet, soapy or dirty, your nose WILL itch.

2. When you give your email out anywhere on the internet, you will soon learn all you never wanted to know about body part enhancements.

3. A cat does not love you. It simply allo

Kurt Liberman Smoking Gun In Cancer Revealed; It's The Smoking Throat

OK, smoke fans, the facts are out once again. According to the new and pretty inarguable Cancer Atlas and the updated Tobacco Atlas, which were published by The American Cancer Society, if "Smoky, The Scare" gets his way, tobacco use is projected to kill a billion people in this century. (By the way, wouldn't it be more reassuring if the word “Prevention” was in the Society's name?)

Now, that’s what we call recreational population control. The figure amounts to ten times as many folks

Helmut Lampaert Disney, Google eye stake in China bus media firm

A consortium led by Walt Disney Co. is in advanced talks to buy into China's largest in-bus digital media and advertising company, a deal that could offer the U.S. entertainment giant a new platform to promote Mickey Mouse in China, three sources told Reuters.

Google Inc., the world's No.1 Internet search company, which threatened to quit China last month over censorship and hacking concerns, was among investors in the Disney-led consortium, the sources said on Monday.

So you’re thinking about going country? It’s time to abandon the frenzy of city life, drop the ‘G’ from the end of your verbs and trade your Gucci for goats. You long to be in a place where business is done on a handshake, where your backyard is bountiful and where folks welcome you with warm apple pie and a smile. You want the simple life.

Helmut Lampaert Vanity Fair's passel of pale starlets

NEW YORK -- Call it a lie of omission. One month after featuring shirtless, fresh-kill Tiger Woods, Vanity Fair presents their annual "Young Hollywood" issue with a decidedly more alabaster cover. Kristen Stewart, Abbie Cornish, and Carey Mulligan scored the front of the mag, and six more actresses grace the pull-out cover, none of them sporting so much as a tan.

Open the magazine and you'll see that Vanity Fair isn't just pitiably clueless. Inside the issue you'll find Academy

Helmut Lampaert Wyclef keeps Haiti in his heart amid Super Bowl

The contrasts are stark: As Haiti grapples with chaos, death and despair after last month's earthquake, the world's most famous VIPs party in luxurious fashion in preparation for a football game.

Wyclef Jean — who has been an advocate for his native Haiti since the disaster — was in Miami for those celebrations this week, and understands that the festivities won't stop because of Haiti's pain. But he said he's partying with a purpose.

"(The) Super Bowl is Super Bowl. Super Bowl

Kurtis Kgerrman The Finer Points of Poverty

I'm poor. And I'm not ashamed of it. Actually, I'm kind of proud of myself for being poor. It's an accomplishment that many people will never attain. Some people will go through their whole life and never know what it's like to experience some of the finer points of poverty like eating ramon noodles for breakfast, lunch, and dinner 5 days a week. My heart goes out to these types of people. The Fourtunate Ones. People who've always had electricity, nice cars, and proper clothing.

Kurtis Kgerrman Studies Show Teenage Drinking Kills Brain Cells; Oh, That Explains Everything

We always knew teens often walk a bit on the wild side, and we had the inclination to misbehave abundantly ourselves.

Now we know at least part of the reason for our wiliness.

Studies suggest that alcohol causes more damage to the developing brains of teenagers than researchers previously thought and injures them more than it does adult brains. The research also suggests that heavy teen drinking may undermine the neurological connections needed to avoid alcoholism.

Richard Paulk Powerful snowstorm hits U.S. East Coast

A powerful storm slammed the U.S. mid-Atlantic on Friday, threatening record snowfall in a region heavily dependent on home heating oil and natural gas supplies. Forecasts calling for 20 to 30 inches (50 to 76 cm) of snow and near-blizzard conditions from Virginia to southern New Jersey prompted U.S. government offices in the Washington area to close their doors four hours early. President Barack Obama, who previously has made fun of the reaction in Washington to small amounts of snow, was not… Continue

Richard Paulk 6.0 quake rattles North Coast

A magnitude 6.0 earthquake shook the North Coast today in the area where a stronger temblor hit last month, but so far there are no reports of injuries or damage. The quake hit at 12:20 p.m. and was centered about 30 miles offshore, northwest of the small town of Petrolia in Humboldt County, according to the U.S. Geological Survey. Residents said they could feel the shaker, but it was nowhere near as disconcerting as the magnitude 6.5 quake that struck the region Jan. 9. That quake was center… Continue
