Can't "We" All Just Get Along...

...I was having a discussion the other day with a friend regarding the condition of a people...namely Black people. How is it that any Black person, can look at another Black person with hatred; especially seeing what we all have to contend with in our daily living? How? Why? How is it that so many of us spend (wastefully) just as much time and energy in acting and speaking negatively about another Black person, than they do helping another Black person? How? Why? I see no other group of people…See More

Criminals Have Rights 2

I was no less than thrilled when the community members united to remove the vermin from the streets responsible for the assault on a child, but was the vermin really removed. The newspaper headline read "Vigilante Justice. Angry mob attacks 'person of interest'...." What we must begin to understand is that we cannot just take matters into our hands, regardless of how heinous the act. There are laws that protect us all, and criminals are included. Earlier in that day, I was asked what I would do…See More

STEPPING UP?

Why is it that every time a male does something that he should be doing anyway, people say that he is "stepping-up"? It makes it seem like males are typically lazy, non-particapatory, uncaring, non-nurturing, etc. Men have, and will always, continue to be a significant figure in every society directly or indirectly, yet society has become conditioned to identify only those who they perceive as "stepping-up". This is only one of many divisive tactics that those self-righteous people in our…See More

CAN YOU HANDLE THE TRUTH!

I have often wondered where those overwhelming emotions of impending doom go after we have experienced certain losses in our lives. Yes, there is a process that each person takes toward moving through the stages of grief, but these emotions do not just go away; they are stored away within the deep confines of ones souls. We learn to "so-called" manage these emotions, but are they really managed. When I look at who I am today, it is because of what happened yesterday. Every event that has an…See More

On De-fence!

Since having my accident, I have been emotionally distraught.....I believe we call it PTSD. I am often awakened by the crash in my sleep. I do not see the vehicle heading toward the guardrail, but I recall when everything moved into realtime and the car crashed landed into the creek and water rushed into the vehicle. It is that part that keeps resonating in my head, over and over again. I have headaches on many days, and my body still aches; especially on damp days like today. Because I have…See More

It's All Over Your FACE!

Posted on October 12, 2010 at 10:01pm 0 Comments

It never ceases to amaze me what people are willing to share about themselves when up close and personal, versus that which they are willing to share about themselves in front of a 15-inch screen to millions! Yes, millions expose themselves in a way that will have long-term effects on their lives, and for some odd reason they seem to think not. There are people who I have met and/or heard about, who show a different side of themselves when on Facebook and some of these other…

Good Afternoon Sabir,

How are you? Hopefully my note finds that you are continuing to recover and continuing to grow stronger and that all is well with your family and your colleagues. The graciousness and kindness that you have shown me by inviting me to this wonderful network is greatly appreciated. I read with great interest, your article, "Is It Live, Or . . . !" I sense that you have always understood that you have a purpose in life -- a destiny to fulfill and a clear sense of what is truly important in life. There is a School of Thought that espouses the philosophy that there are invisible hands that guide us and move us to the place or places where we need to be . . . One could say that those invisible hands which guide also protect. And one could go even further to say that those invisible hands acted as a shield to protect you. You may find that now the depth of your understanding and vision has magically expanded.

Have an empowering and inspiring week! Here's to your continued success!

Best regards,
Diane
